Congratulations to our Lead Speech and Language Therapist and Cofounder Caspian, for winning the Pearson Outstanding Achievement Award at the Shine a Light Awards!
The 2017 Shine a Light Awards, run by Pearson in partnership with The Communication Trust, took place on 23rd March 2017 and were hosted by singer and theatre star Gareth Gates. The Shine a Light Awards is a national awards scheme that celebrates innovative work and excellent practice in supporting children and young people’s communication development.
Gareth Gates, host of the 2017 Shine a Light Awards, said: “The dedication of Caspian is outstanding. Being able to communicate with confidence is often taken for granted but for many it is an everyday struggle. I have found my stutter crippling at times but I have learnt ways to manage my difficulties with the support of others.
“It is heart-warming to know that other children and young people across England are getting the support they need to develop and achieve goals that may not have been possible otherwise. Caspian should be extremely proud of his award.”
Chris Hall, Director of Clinical Assessment at Pearson, said: “Congratulations to Caspian for his Pearson Outstanding Achievement Award. His dedication and commitment to improving the outcomes for those in and around Manchester is humbling.“
"This is the fifth year we have run the Awards and we remain blown away by the standard of applications. They give an amazing insight into the unsung work that is taking place across the country to improve the speech, language and communication skills of children and y
We are very happy to announce that our Lead Speech and Language Therapist, Caspian Jamie, will be providing Free training to all nurseries in Greater Manchester to celebrate our 'Giving Voice week'. Giving Voice is a campaign to give voice to people with speech, language and communication needs, and to ensure their requirements and those of their carers and families are met.
The latest Workforce Survey from the Communication Trust found that many early years staff require additional support and training in identifying and supporting Speech, Language and Communication Needs but cited budget as a barrier to receiving this training. We hope that our interactive and practical training session will help to raise the confidence of early years staff by equipping them with key strategies and games to support the development of children with SLCN.
The training will take place at Manchester Metropolitan University on Monday 24th April at 7.30-8.30pm.
If you know a nursery that may be interested in attending our free training session, please tell them to contact Victoria@twinkleboost.com for tickets.
We are delighted to announce that our Lead Speech and Language Therapist and cofounder Caspian Jamie has been selected as a finalist for The Communication Trust's Shine a Light Awards in connection with his work at Twinkleboost.
The Shine a Light Awards showcase some the best practice that is taking place in England around speech, language and communication needs. They honour individuals and projects that have excelled in their support of children and young people's communication.
Caspian was selected by a panel of judges that included some of the biggest names in Speech and Language Therapy including Octavia Holland, Director of The Communication Trust, Bob Reitemeier CBE, CEO of I CAN, Jonathan Douglas, Director of The National Literacy Trust and Kamini Gadhok MBE, Chief Executive at RCSLT.
The Oscars style awards ceremony will take place on 23rd March in London at the premises of Pearson Assessment, sponsors of the Awards.
Caspian is a passionate advocate of early intervention and an incredible asset to our team. We wish him the best of luck!

We feel very lucky to have Victoria on our team and want to wish her a big warm Twinkleboost welcome!
We are delighted to share that our Managing Director and Cofounder, Hannah, has won a 2016 National Women in Business Award at the Forward Ladies Regional Finals this month. Hannah won an award for the Best Businesswoman in the Not for Profit Category.
The event took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Manchester and brought together businesswomen from all across the North West. Hannah will now go on to compete in the National Final on 1st December.
Hannah, who was 37 weeks pregnant at the awards ceremony says 'It's such an honour to win this award. I am really proud of all we have achieved at Twinkleboost over the past 18 months and am excited about the organisation's future. There were so many inspirational women in my category that the win came as a shock. It's fantastic to be recognised and the perfect way to start my maternity leave!'
Twinkleboost isn't just about fun stories, games, puppets, songs and messy, messy play!
In every Twinkleboost class we introduce a key strategy used by Paediatric Speech and Language therapists to boost children's language development. We deliver the same training to parents as we give to staff in nurseries and schools.
From September 2016, we will be offering all parents the chance to earn a training certificate in 'Supporting Speech and Language development in the Early Years'. This certificate is a fantastic opportunity for parents who want to change career or evidence their continued development during maternity leave and beyond.
For more information on how to gain your certificate visit: http://www.twinkleboost.com/certificate.html
Our Twinkleboost Founder and Managing Director, Hannah Broughton, has been shortlisted for 3 awards!
Hannah was shortlisted for two awards in the 2016 National Women in Business Awards in the Not for Profit and Start Up Categories. She's also a Finalist for Business Person of the Year in the Bolton and Bury Business Awards.
Hannah says "I am really proud of all Twinkleboost has achieved in such a short space of time. In just 12 months we have grown from a small pilot project delivering classes in 2 local churches, to an organisation running all across Greater Manchester, operating in community venues, schools, nurseries and providing bespoke classes for disability groups.
It's been an incredibly busy, wonderful and at times chaotic year and to be shortlisted for such prestigious awards is the icing on the cake"
Twinkleboost CIC are delighted to announce that BBC Children in Need has awarded us a grant of £9950 over one year. This grant will allow us to launch our award winning classes in three deprived area's throughout Manchester.
Our vision at Twinkleboost CIC is for all children to start school with the Speech and Language skills they need to succeed. Research has found that Children living in poverty are at high risk of entering school with impoverished language or a Speech and Language delay. With this funding, we will be able to provide our award winning Twinkleboost classes to over 200 of the most disadvantaged families in Greater Manchester. Our classes not only develop children's Speech and Language skills but also equip parents with strategies to support their child's Speech and Language development at home.
We are incredibly grateful to Children in Need for supporting our project. We are also really proud that at just a year old, Twinkleboost has gained support from such a fantastic and high profile organisation.
BBC Children in Need funding relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK who donate their time and money to support the Appeal. Whether it’s cake sales, wearing pyjamas to school or having a song and dance, every penny of the money raised goes towards supporting projects across the UK.
Last week we said a goodbye to Emily, our Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. Emily has accepted a fantastic new role as a Communication Development Worker, working alongside many Speech and Language Therapists to support children with Communication difficulties. We were also delighted to hear that she has just been offered a place on a Speech Pathology and Therapy University course to train as a Qualified Speech and Language Therapist!
Emily has been with us from the very beginning of Twinkleboost CIC. Since completing our 4 month training programme she has worked all over Greater Manchester, running our Speech and Language classes in churches, nurseries and special schools. Through her engaging story telling and friendly and approachable manner, she has brought Speech and Language development and training to life for many parents, nursery and school staff.
Emily says "I have absolutely loved my role at Twinkleboost over this past year. I will really miss Twinkle, Boost and all the children and families I have met as well as the many amazing teachers, support staff and early years staff i've been lucky enough to work with."
We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to Emily for being such a big part of Twinkleboost over the past year, and a massive congratulations for gaining a place on the degree course. We wish her the best of luck for the future.
